(Mili)ing It Over: First VBlog!

I am really excited Jenn asked me to be part of (Mili)ing It Over! I'm also extremely nervous. "Public speaking" is so not my thing! So I recorded this video a few times before finally giving up and leaving it as is. Just to give everyone fair warning when I get nervous I say um, like, and stuff, you know...okay you get the point. So here's my first video blog. This week's topic for (Mili)ing It Over was on stereotypes that the media and Hollywood put out on Military Wives.

(And next time I do plan on making it shorter so excuse my rambling.)

Be sure and check out other responses to this issue from some fabulous Milies!

Okay I really that this was so long but what are anyone else's thoughts? Do the stereotypes that the media puts on you bother you?

Are the stereotypes we put on each other worse?

For any civilians reading this..what do you think? Do these stereotypes you see of military families line up with what you see from an ACTUAL family or spouse?

OK...I haven't read watched your vlog yet, but I will in a minute. But I just wanted to answer the question real quick...

Sometimes I feel that we are shown as uneducated or trashy. That's just my opinion. Or the oppossite, like too snooty.

But, on Army Wives, I think there is really only one character that maybe represents the military wife the best.

Excellent first vlog! I am really glad you joined us this week and I really appreciate your thoughful response to this question. I liked that you mentioned the "Martha Stewart wife" type and the "angry military wife" type, etc. Those are good points! I sometimes wish I could be the Martha Stewart type or the Claudia Joy type (from Army Wives) but I'm just not ever going to be that spouse.

Didn't listen to all of it, but what I heard was very good. My sister is a military wife (actually, was, he is out now). He was almost deployed during the first Iraq war but at the last moment was canceled.

I'm getting more people for the guest marriage posts for 2011. Hope you'll still do one. If you choose to write about military marraige experiences, you have so much to share. I have a number of military families following now so I know they would enjoy your post.

You have a very good blog.
