Wow! That's so sad and shocking. Thank you for making us aware of this.

That is just horrible, her picture does seem familiar like i have been to her blog before from some one elses blog. That is so sad though.
And I agree this whole facebook "places" thing is just dangerous, why would you want people to know exactly where you are??

This just makes me sick to my stomach :( This shouldn't have happened... that's all I can even think to say. I'll be praying for her and her family in this horrible time.

I saw a video online about this and I was so shocked and saddened by it!! I feel so bad for her husband, who was not there to protect her seeing as he was away at sea. We all need to be more careful from now on and look out for each other, as well as pray for her family and her husband. :(

:( This breaks my heart! If you find her blog, do be sure to share. I'd love to read what she left behind for all of us and pay some respects to another milspouse.

And, oh, you cannot stress the careful enough! A few weeks ago, within a five day period, there were three rapes and two break-ins in a housing neighborhood very near where there is a lot of construction going on-base. They suspect it was members of the construction team, but no one has yet pinpointed it. My husband has been locking the door every morning when he leaves for the day! Never thought we'd have to worry about that on-base!

Exactly why I cringe every time I see anyone, especially fellow Milies using 4square and Whrrl inputting exactly where they are, and when. Then it goes to their Twitter account and/or Facebook.

This breaks my heart. It's every milspouse's worst nightmare. Don't tell strangers your husband is deployed ladies! My heart goes out to her family. So tragic.

That is terrible.

We had a string of break ins and assaults last month when our unit left for training. Sadly most of the women it happened to had HUGE amounts on "friends" and were constantly making reference to their husbands being gone. THere was absolutely NO use of censorship. I personal have 2 accounts on FB. One is for my blog and "friends" and the other is my personal one. I don't think there is anything wrong keeping people you don't know at bay until you get to know them personally.

This completely BREAKS for my heart for her. I can NOT imagine what her final moments were like. I just don't understand why her neighbors heard her screaming and didn't call the cops? That is something that they will have to live with the rest of their lives.

My prayers go out to her family and husband!

no need to apologize for ranting about internet safety...it is SO SO SO important. Here is an idea that other mil-wives may be interested to help keep themselves safe while their husbands are deployed:

I recently had a neighbor whose husband deployed. She wanted to honor him and put a yellow ribbon around a tree in her front yard, but was worried it would attract break-ins or worse. She asked any neighbors that would be willing to, to put a yellow ribbon around their tree as well, as to not set herself apart. EVERY single tree in my circle (about 10 houses) now has a yellow ribbon. Its a great thing to see and makes me really happy. Just let me know if you want a picture of it to share this idea :)

Very sad indeed. As wives we need to remember OPSEC for ourselves too. Thanks for reminding us all. With FourSquare, Twitter and Facebook all pushing GEOtagging it's easy to get sucked in.

My heart and prayers go out to her family and loved ones.

This is sad. Will pray for the family. Cheryl and I pray for all the military families.

Have a guest blogging invitation and don't know how to send it to you so I'll leave it here. Hope that is ok.

Next year I am going to do a series of guest posts on the theme "Tips for Marriage." I will ask each contributor to do just a one or two paragraph post on a tip or teaching they received in life that has had a positive impact on their marriage. You can have a link to connect back to your blog. I thought your post might be particularly interesting and helpful to people b/c of your military circumstances. You could even do a longer one if you wanted to.

Would you be interested in doing that? I'm lining up guest posters (is that correct word for guest writers?) now.

Thanks,
Warren

Yeah for all those talking shit about opsec....i want you to know where to stick it...well guess what it was her Navy husband neighbor...he came down and asked for her husbands hand moving a couch...she answered honestly..b/c lets face it.. a neighbor...in the navy...and married..she trusted him...there was not forced entry..she felt safe opening the door to him...she saw him every day...for two months...he got returned from deployment for questionable reasons "administrative" aka he was accused of something that couldnt be proven..ive seen it happen before...rumor in the news...it involved a woman..im not surprised...the navy failed her...they pin pointed Robert Sadler due to him being under investigation for something kind of related to what he did to her by NCIS beginning in October. So I don't want anyone making it out like it was her fault it could happen to any one of you.
