Another reason to love Mrs. Smith's Bags

One of my many "military spouse projects" that's been keeping me busy happened this past Wednesday. Some of my readers may remember that back in November I did a review and giveaway for one of Mrs. Smith's Bags. These are the incredible diaper bags that have a pull out drawer and can be switched back and forth between messenger bag or back pack. Ever since I sent in my review I've stayed in touch with the designer, Rachael Smith. We've had a blast talking on the phone and back in February we were chatting about military life. Out of the blue she said "I'd love to do something for some military wives. Can you help me with that?"

Over the next couple months I tried to pull together an event for a local unit but that didn't work, for various reasons I won't get into. During that time another event was brought to my attention. Evening Under The Stars is an annual event that the Air Force puts together in our state. Its "a night of pampering for wives of all branches." Thousands of wives come out each year and get spoiled by vendors of all kinds. Commissaries, Organic food distributors, and wineries brought their finest for the wives of our nation's finest.

Rachael and I set up a booth at the event and had such a great time! She graciously gave away 5 of her bags in a raffle we held toward the end of the night. There were lots of discounts given out too. I think it was the most fun for me to get to watch everyone's reactions to these bags and their unique features. Wives huddled around our booth for hours. Even wives who were past the baby stage said they would use one of Mrs. Smith's Bags for scrapbooking supplies or a camera bag.

Hanging out with Rachael was so comfortable. We laughed loudly, and often. She's one of the most down-to-earth people you can find and even runs Mrs. Smith's Bags out of her kids' playroom. I was blown away by her generosity. I can honestly say that Rachael gave away more than the other product vendors at Evening Under The Stars.

As a military wife myself this event was important to me. I didn't get a "spouse band" when I signed in, I was strictly there as a vendor's assistant. Seeing wives light up all night and know they were getting spoiled with chocolate fondue, spa services, and Mrs. Smith's Bags, was so encouraging. I just wish that every state did something like this! It was also great to see who the vendors were that night. I like knowing companies I support also support us in our military life.

Mrs. Smith does just that. And they make the coolest diaper bag ever! What more could a military wife ask for?

"Stick with Mrs. Smith!"

I might be a little biased, but our booth was the best.

Mrs. Smith's Bags...every gal's best friend.

Ladies, this is not "just" a diaper bag. I carry one of my two bags all the time, even if G.I. Joe and I are on a date and Lucy's with my parents. This spouse had a wonderful use for the bag: camera bag! Its really brilliant because of all the pockets and drawer. Plenty of room for the camera, extra lenses, battery, SD card...whatever you can think of will definitely have a place in the bag!

My favorite part of the night was watching women who had never heard of the bags react to all the awesome features. They were like kids seeing Disney World for the first time ever.

The excitement builds as we get ready to draw our first lucky winner!

Spouses huddled around our table all night.

Everyone was holding their breath hoping that their's would be one of five names called.

Doing what she loves: empowering moms and making their life a little easier.

That's awesome, J! I totally want to buy myself one of her bags, especially after seeing them again...I can't believe she runs her shop out of her kid's playroom! That's such an inspiration to me, since I'm trying to start up my own shop, but sometimes I just feel as if I'm not "professional" enough, working out of our 3rd bedroom. Thanks for posting about this! Go, Mrs. Smith! And Mrs. G.I. Joe! <3
