Boot Shoot.

A few weeks ago I stumbled across the organization "When they come back, we give back." It is a rapidly growing photography campaign of civilians, family members, celebs and politicians who who honor our troops by putting on their boots. Right away I contacted my new friend Sarah, who is a remarkable young photographer. We made plans to meet up for a boot shoot soon after that.

This was really important for me to do for G.I. Joe's birthday. In today's world many people only see the negative, or ugly, side of the military. The truth is...it is ugly, and gritty, and painful.

However....there is beauty in the people who lace up these boots everyday.
There is beauty in their selflessness.
There is beauty in their loyalty.
There is beauty in saving others.
There is beauty in tripping over these boots each time I walk through the door.

This is mine and Sarah's interpretation of that beauty.

On a whole other note: I have to give a big thank you shout out to Mrs. Muffins! She's the awesome lady who installed the custom fonts for me and has given me loads of advice for rebuilding the blog layout. What takes me hours to figure out takes her minutes. She rocks!

Love the new layout. And I've been going nuts over those pics on facebook. I wish I had SoldierMan's boots here! I'll just have to settle for shooting my sister in her boyfriends boots :)

Those photos are awesome! I want to do a boot shoot. My boots are in the sandbox right now though :( I think the only ones left at the house are his brand new Danners, and it wouldn't be as authentic in brand new boots!! :( Soon enough though!
Also, the blog is looking spectacular! I'm a little jealous I want a purdy blog!!

gorgeous pics. It would be cute to do one with Lucy in them

Mrs. G.I. Joe said...

Thanks everyone!

The reason we haven't done these pictures with Lucy in them is because she has cried and put up quite a fight when we've tried to get her in them. She actually want in my boots a few days ago though. Hopefully soon she decide these aren't meant to torture her and she'll let me take a few pictures of her in them. :P

I LOVE all these pictures, they turned out SO good!! I must ask where you got this dress though? I got my little one the same exact one at Target and have spent every minute since then wanting one for myself!!

Mrs. G.I. Joe said...

Haha...that actually is the Target kids department dress :P

But they do have a skirt in the women's/junior's department that is almost the exact same pattern as the floral skirt of the dress. The skirt is super cute because it even has pockets. You could definitely get that and then add a stripe top!

Love this! Your posts keep getting better and better. I enjoyed reading your "open letter" post too. You blog has become so much more than the average mom blog. Actually it never was the average mom blog. Your photography skills along with your creativeness and that gorgeous little girl kept ACU's SS&PT from every being so and though I started following it due to Lucy and Dax being the same age, even if I didn't have a child, your blog would still be very interesting, worth the read and really stands out! Teri. :o)
